*Call to Worship

Based on Psalm 71:1–6

One: In your presence, O God, we find a place of safety where we will never be put to shame. Your way is good and right and keeps us from all kinds of trouble.

All: Tune your heart to the sounds of our voices as we open our hearts to worship you.

One: You shelter us from all that threatens to destroy; for, with you, we do not have to be afraid. You are our hope and trust from the days of our youth.

All: Tune your heart to the sounds of our voices as we open our hearts to worship you.

One: We have trusted you from the time we were born; in fact, it was you who drew us out of our mothers’ wombs, and you nurture us along the way.

All: Tune your heart to the sounds of our voices

Creator God, you spoke, and the world took shape. Your word comes to us in the rushing of the wind, and our lives are reawakened in you. Open us to encountering your word in new and powerful ways during worship. Help us place your word at the centre of our life together. Amen.

*The Apostle’s Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord:

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. The third day he arose from the dead, he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
