Prelude – acolyte lights candles on altar

*Call to Worship

One: The heavens are telling the glory of God;

All: and the firmament proclaims God’s handiwork.

One: Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night declares

knowledge.

All: Its rising is from the end of the heavens,

One: let God’s knowledge rise in us.

All: Let God’s glory shine all around us.

*Confession and Pardon

O holy and merciful God, we confess that we have not been obedient to your laws, nor been willing to seek and to do your perfect will. We have not loved you with all our heart and mind and soul and strength, neither have we loved our neighbors as ourselves. Forgive us we pray.

All offer prayers of confession in silence.

Lord Jesus, cleanse us from all our sins, and restore us to full relationship with God Almighty. Amen.

Opening Prayer

Sculptor of the heavens and the earth, creator of the sea and sky, we praise your holy name because you created us in love and ordered our lives that we might live with peace, joy, unity, and abundance. Help us see the goodness that is all around us in the beauty of your creation and the framework of your commands. Help us hear your word this day. Let it shape us and make us new once more. Amen.

Response to the Word

*Hymn of Response

I Need Thee Every Hour”   UMH 397

*The Apostle’s Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord:

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. The third day he arose from the dead, he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
