*Call to Worship
One: People of God, listen! We are being called together
All : As we continue on our Lenten journey, a voice in the wilderness seems to be drawing us in – inviting us into unity and communion as one.
One: People of God, listen! There is a whispering presence urging us to draw near.
All : Our loving God reaches into our lives in this season and seems to be spreading wings of protection and care over us.
One: Come, children of God, let us be gathered. Let us find safety. Let us remember the love and redeeming grace of God as we worship.
All : Come, let us be a people
“God Who Stretched the Spangled Heavens” UMH 150
We come to you, O God, often wondering about the fulfillment of promises that seems to take so long. But even in our questioning, we come to you in trust. We trust you will bring good to us and all. Help us to build our lives on your promises. Amen.
Prayer of confession
We love our independence, God. We love to run in every direction, in any direction, at any time. We have become a fiercely individualized society. We confess that we have become an unruly brood. We have lost the deep sense of communion that helps us to see one another as sister and brother, even across our differences. We have forgotten how to gather together as one family. We are lost, Loving One, and seek your hovering grace. Forgive us. Turn our eyes again to your realm. Amen.
Words of affirmation
God has given an inheritance of grace upon grace. Be assured of this promise of forgiveness and new life. Amen.

Journey with us, O God, through this day, through this season. Lead us into that land where we know the fullness of your justice and grace. May we follow your leading and draw strength from your presence as found in your Holy Word. Amen.

*The Apostle’s Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord:
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. The third day he arose from the dead, he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
