Mission

Enon’s mission is based on 1 Corinthians 3:8-9

 The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.

Enon’s mission is understood through the planting and harvesting of gardens, crops and fields.

Sowing: casting the seeds of faith, far and wide so others might experience the seeds of faith  (missions, sharing Christ with our community)

Watering: sprinkling water on the seeds of faith that are beginning to sprout (discipleship, ministries, worship)

Tending: going out into God’s garden and tending the fields where seeds have been planted. (missions, helping our neighbors)

Harvesting: the growth and harvest is all God’s work and to God’s glory.  We work with God.  We belong to God.

Enon’s Hymn…

“You Are the Seed”

Cesareo Gabaraín;
translated by Raquel Gutiérrez-Achon and Skinner Chávez-Melo UM Hymnal, No. 583

You are the seed that will grow a new sprout; you’re a star that will shine in the night;
you are the yeast and a small grain of salt,
a beacon to glow in the dark.

You are the dawn that will bring a new day; you’re the wheat that will bear golden grain; you are a sting and a soft, gentle touch,
my witnesses where e’er you go.
Go, my friends, go to the world,
proclaiming love to all,
messengers of my forgiving peace, eternal love. Be, my friends, a loyal witness,
from the dead I arose;
“Lo, I’ll be with you forever,
till the end of the world.”

You are the life that will nurture the plant; you’re the waves in a turbulent sea; yesterday’s yeast is beginning to rise,
a new loaf of bread it will yield.

There is no place for a city to hide,
nor a mountain can cover its might;
may your good deeds show a world in despair a path that will lead all to God.

Go, my friends, go to the world,
proclaiming love to all,
messengers of my forgiving peace, eternal love. Be, my friends, a loyal witness,
from the dead I arose;
“Lo, I’ll be with you forever,
till the end of the world.”
